Sak's Fifth Avenue A/W'12 Show

avish fabrics in rich velvets and leathers and dark crimson hues dominated the runway as Saks Fifth Avenue presented their Fall/Winter 2012 collection sat the Godolphin Ballroom of the architecturally renowned Emirates Towers. In the attendance of 700+ VIPs and media, the show reflected a perfect blend of designer leads and exciting new-comers with the addition of Oscar de la Renta for this season!

     The show featured 7 key trends in an overall mood of eclectic elegance: Brocade Brigade, Mixed Media, Ladylike, Geek Chic, Masculine/Feminine, Formal Remix and High Shine

      The show opened with a runway full of lavishness. Designers Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta and BiYan channeled rich baroque opulence with brocade patterns and ornate embellishments, sharp-fitting suits and jeweled shirts were seen from Viktor & Rolf, Dolce & Gabbana and John Galliano. Moving to more laidback and comfortable looks for MEN in statement cardigans sweaters and light blazers. Combined with slim jeans, and smart accessorize not to forget the high-top trainers or velvet, suede loafers courtesy of Marc Jacobs, Rivieras, Dior Homme and The Emperor 1688.


       The models swept through the runway in a womanly chic below the knee hip-swaying statement from Azzedine Alaia, Oscar de la Renta, and Jason Wu. Metallic leather, glitter toe-caps and leather paneling give this season’s wardrobe the glam-rock treatment. Think embellished, sequined, shiny, lacy and ultra-elegant – this trend will allow you to take a night off from your cocktail dress and turn to statement separates perfect for partying.

The Evening looks were glamorous and striking the models looked ready to walk the Red Carpet instead of the catwalk in Oscar de la Renta’s remarkable gowns, and Carolina Herrera classic-cut dresses in palettes of pinks, ochres and creams. Shifting to dramatic and gothic glamour with Black Velvet, Baroque detailing, and deep-neck Victoriana inspired necklines in the creations of Andrew Gn ,  Jason Wu and Zac Posen. The gentlemen glided in their sharp and well-tailored tux in different lux fabrics from fine wool to decadent brocade from designers including Christian Dior and Dolce & Gabbana, accessorized with bow-ties and thin knot ties tidily worn. The finally looks were marvelous show-stopper gowns by Marchesa , Naeem Khan, Carolina Herrera and Andrew Gn taking center stage.!
